  3. The "other" O'Jays album masterpiece, Ship Ahoy combined shattering message tracks and stunning love songs in a fashion matched only by Curtis Mayfield's finest material. From the album cover showing a slave ship to the memorable title song and incredible "For the Love of Money," Gamble and Huff addressed every social ill from envy to racism and greed.9/

  6. Jan 10,  · The Earth, Wind & Fire was a given, the O'Jays seemed interesting enough to buy, although the only track that I even know from those two albums is "I Love Music", but the Quad SACD of their "Ship Ahoy" album is one of my favorite surround mixes, so I couldn't pass that one up. And then there's that crazy out of the blue CAPITOL Helen Reddy 2-fer!
  7. Released in , Ship Ahoy was originally released on the Philadelphia International Records label. A critical commercial success, the album reached #1 on Billboard's "Black Albums" chart and #1 on the Pop Albums chart launching two hit singles "For the Love of Money" and "Put Your Hands Together".
  8. Jul 12,  · "Ship Ahoy" is possibly my favorite SACD I own. No one who likes the O'Jays and has an SACD player need hesitate when considering a purchase. That goes triple if you have a surround set-up.
